On the weekend of April 15th we held the 3rd Annual Waumer Rock. This years event was well represented by local musicians, local citizens and Lions members. As of today we raised $5000.00 for local charities and organizations. Thanks to all who attended, I know that the organizers are currently working on next years event to make even more successful.
April is election month for the Lions, our new executive for 2016/17 consists of President Ron Weibe, 1st Vice President George Laurencic, 2nd Vice Hans Esser, 3rd Vice Marshal Davis, Treasurer John Ford and Secretary Vicki Davis, other board members include Sherri Hopkins, Dave Cunningham, Belinda Sherwin, Mike Boudreau, Carol Drumm, Ken Ren, Fred Long, Francis English and Ingrid Aird.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing President Al Grundy for his hard work and dedication to Lionism this past year. Al's many many years as a Lion have served him well in his role, again a big thank you to Al.
The Lions Club of Cobourg also raise funds through BINGO nights (Tuesdays), a big thank you goes out to the Lions Bingo team led by Belinda Sherwin. Please join us playing Bingo...this is a great way to help raise funds for local groups (Santa Claus Parade and Army Cadets) as well as raise a little money for yourself (if you can yell BINGO).
The Lions Club of Cobourg is very involved in raising funds for Guide Dogs and the local CNIB to this end we will be holding our annual " Blind Dinner " where we acknowledge the many volunteers who support the blind of our community.
As mentioned we continue to put finishing touches on the waterfront festival.
